Satsang

Each moment presents us with an opportunity to practice yoga. Emotions like fear, anger, joy, sadness and love show us new ways to apply what we learn in meditation or asana practice. The steadiness and ease we learn to find in our bodies, we hope to find in our minds too. In this stillness of mind lies the truth of the eternal.

Satsang is a gathering of truth seekers. Any meeting where people come together in truth can be “satsang.” Satsang is meant to support individual and collective yoga sadhana, or practice. We believe that all yoga brings us into alignment with the ultimate truth, or that which is unchanging, and satsang helps us commune with others to understand this truth and cultivate an awareness of the eternal.

This satsang does not deal so much with spiritual concepts. The first chapter of the Ramayana says that on one side of a scale exists ideal spirituality and on the other side is satsang, or the truth of the present moment – however weighty the ideal, the present moment will always be heavier. This satsang is an open-ended forum in which attendees are encouraged to bring questions, comments and insights garnered both on and off the yoga mat. Held the first Sunday of each month at 5:30pm at Purple Yoga, led by Laura. Attendance by donation.
